All CPCSC third grade classrooms teach and assess fourteen language arts skills. Nine of these skills will be taught during reading and five during writing. These skills are what you will see scored on your child's report card along with scores for math, art, music, and P.E.. We give a baseline assessment for each skill to determine what each child knows before we teach the skill. This baseline will help you to see how much growth your child has made in each skill after it is taught.
The CPCSC third grade scales and vocabulary lists are linked below. Each scale shows you what your child needs to be able to do to receive each score. The lowest score is a zero, and the highest score is either four (varies based on the skill). Please let me know if you have any questions about the scale system or an individual skill!
